Rogue

Rogues are most successful when their deeds never come to light. Fond of poisons and silent projectile weapons, rogues rely on a blend of stealth and minor mysticism. Usually in the employ of rich nobles or local governments, the rogue redistributes wealth or eliminates designated targets. A rogue's allegiance lasts only as long as the latest contract.

What's changed in WoW Forever

A summary of Blizzard's Class Deep Dive articles. They were published during the beta, so numbers and talents may differ in the live game.

Rogues build further on Stealth, control, Poisons and precise weapon attacks. Poisons get more charges and work alongside temporary weapon enchantments, and each specialization has stronger options for daggers, other weapons, Finishing Moves and Bleeds.[1]

Rogue as the developers describe it

Stealth and control abilities make Rogues welcome in any party or raid, and they have the highest potential single-target melee damage in the game.

Baseline abilities

  • All poisons have more charges and can be applied alongside temporary enchantments like Weightstones and Sharpening Stones.
  • Sap no longer breaks Stealth.
  • Distract also reduces affected enemies' Stealth detection for 10 seconds. However, enemy players will know a Rogue is nearby.
  • Expose Armor now reduces armor as much as 5 applications of Sunder Armor, and it no longer stops Warriors from using Sunder Armor.
  • Rogues can learn to equip one-handed axes.
  • Feint's threat reduction is doubled.

Assassination talents

  • Cold Blood moves from the 21-point to the 16-point gold medal and now also applies to Mutilate.
  • Mutilate (21-point gold medal): a 60 Energy attack that strikes with both weapons. Both must be daggers, and it awards 2 combo points.
  • Venom (31-point gold medal): a 25 Energy Finishing Move that gives your Poisons 30% more damage and a 10% higher chance to apply.
  • Improved Poisons: Poisons often don't use up a charge when they trigger, so they last much longer.

Combat talents

  • Flawless Execution (16-point gold medal): reduces the Energy cost of Eviscerate by 10.
  • Hack and Slash (new row 5 talent): combines the weapon specialization talents into one and adds a bonus for axes.
  • Aggression now also increases Backstab damage, so Combat supports both Backstab and Sinister Strike builds.
  • Precision now increases your chance to hit with all spells and attacks, including Poisons, not just melee weapon attacks.

Subtlety talents

  • Premeditation moves from the 31-point to the 16-point gold medal, and its duration is increased to 20 seconds.
  • Thousand Cuts (31-point gold medal): each time Rupture deals damage, your next Hemorrhage or Backstab costs 3 less Energy, stacking up to 5 times.
  • Quietus (new row 6 talent): Sinister Strike, Ghostly Strike and Hemorrhage deal more damage to targets below 35% health.
  • Cutthroat (new row 6 talent): Backstab has a chance to let your next Ambush be used without Stealth.

For all classes

  • Talents start at level 10 and keep the familiar tree structure: one-point milestone talents at 11, 21 and 31 points, now joined by a new 16-point milestone.[2][3][4][1][5]
  • Key class buffs that used to come from talents, such as Blessing of Kings and Improved Mark of the Wild, are now baseline for their classes.[3][5]
  • To change talents, including Legacy talents, visit a class trainer in a major city. Dual Specialization becomes available at level 40.[2][3][4][1][5]
  • These summaries are based on articles published during the beta, so numbers and talents may differ in the live game. This site's talent calculator uses the official live data.[2][3][4][1][5]
