Warrior

Warriors train constantly and strive for perfection in armed combat. Though they come from all walks of life, they are united by their singular commitment to engage in glorious battle. Many warriors serve as mercenary soldiers, while others become adventurers and danger-seeking fortune hunters. A typical warrior is strong, tough, and exceptionally violent.

What's changed in WoW Forever

A summary of Blizzard's Class Deep Dive articles. They were published during the beta, so numbers and talents may differ in the live game.

Warriors stay on the front line as durable, hard-hitting fighters. Rage is more reliable, some utility moves into the baseline kit, and each specialization has a sharper role.[1]

Warrior as the developers describe it

Warriors deal melee damage and mitigate damage, and no other melee class matches their sustained damage against multiple melee targets. On the other hand, they lack tools to recover easily after taking too much damage.

Baseline abilities

  • Rage from taking damage ignores Armor and absorb effects, so your armor and shields like Power Word: Shield no longer reduce the Rage you gain.
  • Rage from dealing damage is based on the speed of the weapon that hit. Critical strikes give 75% more Rage than normal hits.
  • Tactical Mastery is learned at level 14 and lets you keep 10 Rage when you change stances.
  • Victory Rush is learned at level 20. It becomes usable for 20 seconds after you kill a non-trivial enemy and heals you for 10% of your maximum health.
  • Recklessness, Retaliation and Shield Wall no longer share a cooldown. Retaliation and Shield Wall are down to 15 minutes.
  • Thunder Clap is now usable in Defensive Stance, but its cooldown is increased to 6 seconds.
  • Battle Shout now has the Improved Battle Shout bonus built in, but its Attack Power bonus is lower.

Arms talents

  • Spearing Strike (16-point gold medal): an instant attack for 15 Rage that dismounts the target. Damage is doubled against mounted targets, Dragons and Giants.
  • Weaponmaster (new row 5 talent): combines the axe, mace, sword and polearm specializations into one talent. The bonus depends on the weapon you have equipped.
  • Improved Slam moves from Fury to Arms. It speeds up Slam, and Slam no longer delays or interrupts your melee auto attack.
  • Improved Tactical Mastery: each point keeps 3 more Rage when you change stances, up to 25.

Fury talents

  • Raging Blows (16-point gold medal): while dual-wielding, Whirlwind hits with both weapons, and Cleave costs less Rage.
  • Enrage has been redesigned and can now trigger from taking any damage.
  • Bloodthirst no longer heals you. Instead, it increases your movement speed by 10% for 10 seconds.
  • New talents: Boundless Rage (more maximum Rage) and Precision (more hit chance).

Protection talents

  • Vanguard (16-point gold medal): Charge is usable in Defensive Stance.
  • Master of Defense (new row 3 talent): with a shield equipped, dodging or parrying has a chance to give you 5 Rage.
  • New talents: Bastion (more damage while you have a shield equipped) and Focused Rage (lower Rage cost on offensive abilities).
  • Improved Shield Block and Improved Taunt are now baseline, and One-Handed Weapon Specialization has been removed.

For all classes

  • Talents start at level 10 and keep the familiar tree structure: one-point milestone talents at 11, 21 and 31 points, now joined by a new 16-point milestone.[1][2][3][4][5]
  • Key class buffs that used to come from talents, such as Blessing of Kings and Improved Mark of the Wild, are now baseline for their classes.[2][5]
  • To change talents, including Legacy talents, visit a class trainer in a major city. Dual Specialization becomes available at level 40.[1][2][3][4][5]
