What's changed in WoW Forever

A summary of Blizzard's Class Deep Dive articles. They were published during the beta, so numbers and talents may differ in the live game.

The unique Seal and Judgement system stays. Holy gains healing and support tools, Protection gets stronger threat, mana and survival options, and Retribution gets ways to sustain Judgements plus a more approachable form of Seal Twisting.[1]

Paladin as the developers describe it

Paladins are very strong against Undead and Demons, but they have limited range, no interrupt and no way to slow enemies. The goal is highly effective tanks, competitive damage dealers and the strongest single-target healers in the game.

Baseline abilities

  • Holy Strike is a new ability learned at level 6. It deals instant Holy damage based on 50% of your weapon damage.
  • Judgement no longer consumes your active Seal.
  • Seal of Fury is a new seal learned at level 10. Each melee swing deals bonus Holy damage, and you gain an absorb shield equal to 50% of that damage.
  • The Judgement from Seal of Fury taunts the target. With its 10-yard range, you can reach enemies farther away than other tanks can.
  • Consecration is no longer a Holy talent; every Paladin learns it at level 20. It deals moderate damage to the first 4 enemies that enter it and very little to the rest.
  • Fire, Frost and Shadow Resistance Aura now affect all raid members within 30 yards.
  • Seal Twisting is no longer part of the baseline kit. Retribution's 31-point talent Twist of Light brings it back in a new form.

Holy talents

  • Voice of Truth (11-point gold medal): a new ability that makes you immune to Silence and Interrupt effects for 6 seconds.
  • Holy Shock moves from the 31-point to the 21-point gold medal, and its cooldown drops from 30 to 10 seconds.
  • Light's Vigil (31-point gold medal): the next Holy Shock on the target doesn't trigger its cooldown. On an ally, it also heals every member of that ally's party.
  • Infusion of Light (new row 4 talent): critical hits with Holy Shock or Flash of Light reduce the cast time of your next Holy Light.

Protection talents

  • Improved Seal of Fury (11-point gold medal): returns mana each time a Seal of Fury absorb shield is fully consumed.
  • Swift Judgement (16-point gold medal): instantly finishes the remaining cooldown on Judgement and makes your next Judgement cost no mana.
  • Templar's Bulwark (21-point gold medal): an absorb shield equal to 100% of your maximum health for 8 seconds. Using it applies Forbearance.
  • Iron Creed (new row 6 talent): Holy Strike generates more threat, and while Righteous Fury is active it also reduces the damage you take.

Retribution talents

  • Sacred Arbiter (16-point gold medal): Holy Strike deals 20% more damage and refreshes every Judgement on the target, even those from other Paladins.
  • Repentance is now the 21-point gold medal instead of the 31-point one.
  • Twist of Light (31-point gold medal): Seals cost 20% less mana. When you replace a damage-dealing Seal, your next melee attack also gets the old Seal's effect.
  • Vengeance has been redesigned. It now lasts 30 seconds and increases damage by up to 3% per stack, up to 9%.

For all classes

  • Talents start at level 10 and keep the familiar tree structure: one-point milestone talents at 11, 21 and 31 points, now joined by a new 16-point milestone.[2][3][4][5][1]
  • Key class buffs that used to come from talents, such as Blessing of Kings and Improved Mark of the Wild, are now baseline for their classes.[3][1]
  • To change talents, including Legacy talents, visit a class trainer in a major city. Dual Specialization becomes available at level 40.[2][3][4][5][1]
  • These summaries are based on articles published during the beta, so numbers and talents may differ in the live game. This site's talent calculator uses the official live data.[2][3][4][5][1]

  • RepentanceRow 5

Puts the enemy target in a state of meditation, incapacitating them for up to 6 sec. Any damage caused will awaken the target. Only works against Humanoids.

  • Unsealed WrathRow 7

Your melee attacks store a copy of your active Seal for 15 sec, stacking up to 3 times. Landing an attack with a different Seal consumes all stacks, giving the stored Seal its normal chance to activate once per stack.
