Everything you need to start playing WoW Forever. Prices vary by region, so check your regional Battle.net Shop.

What you need

  • WoW: Forever is included with a World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time. One subscription covers modern WoW, WoW: Forever and the WoW Classic progression realms.[1][2][3]
  • To play the new Skyborne race, you need the Skyborne Heroic Pack or a higher digital upgrade.[4][5]

    • Forsaken & Human Figurine decor (Housing in modern WoW only)

    Limited time, available through January 11, 2027

  • Some items work in both modern WoW and WoW: Forever, others only in WoW: Forever. None of them can be used in WoW Classic.[5]
  • There's also a physical Collector's Edition, sold through the Blizzard Gear Store (in Australia and New Zealand, through participating retailers).[7]

Invite-A-Friend Launch Codes

The official way to try the game without a subscription.

  • Upgrades come with Invite-A-Friend Launch Codes: one with the Skyborne Heroic Pack, three in total with the Skyborne Epic Pack or the Warcraft Forever Collection. A friend who gets your code can play from November 4 through November 11 (PST) without a subscription, as long as they're eligible.[6][5]
  • Codes are redeemed through Battle.net. Upgrades bought as gifts don't come with codes.[6][5]

  • Your graphics card must be based on AMD Graphics Core Next 1 (2012), NVIDIA Maxwell (2014), Intel Skylake (2015) or a newer architecture. The shop's minimum requirements are set higher than that.[8]
  • You need an internet connection, a Battle.net account and the Battle.net desktop app.[5]

How to install

  1. 1Update your graphics drivers.[9]
  2. 2Install the Battle.net desktop app, or let it update.[9]
  3. 3Select World of Warcraft from the list of games.[9]
  4. 4In the Game Version menu above the Play button, choose World of Warcraft: Forever, then click Install.[9]
  5. 5When the install finishes, click Play. On your first login, pick an Experience Preset (Classic or Enhanced) and a ruleset, then create your character.[9][10]

Your first login

  • If you have more than one WoW account, a second dropdown lets you pick the account to play on.[4]
  • You choose HD or SD character models for each character.[4]
  • Coming back after a long break? Recover your account first, then check its region, license, contact details and security settings.[11]
